General+Finishes

Hello there!

So if you’ve been around for more than 30 seconds, you know I’m a huge General Finishes fan.  But I get asked all the time, can I use other paint brands the same way, or why did this not turn out the way yours did, where can I find General Finishes, or have you tried Paint Brand X??

Here are the quick answers to those questions…

Can I use other paint brands the same way?

The short answer is yes.  The tips and techniques I teach you will work with other paints, HOWEVER sometimes the other brands just don’t work the same way.  They may not level as nicely to not show brush-strokes, or they may not interact/react with other products and brands nicely.  So if you mix brands, test it first and see what it does.

Why did this not turn out the way yours did?

One of the reasons I really love General Finishes is that it gives me a consistent finish EVERYTIME.  When I first started refinishing, it was a little bit of a crap-shoot as I tried all kinds of different brands, techniques, methods.  So when I figured out what worked best, I stuck with it!!! These methods are what I can now teach you because I know they work!

Where can I find General Finishes?

I’ve opened up my online store again to offer GF products to you!! I know that’s just easier for many of you who just can’t find it elsewhere.  You do have to pay for shipping, but I’ve set it up so any order $75+ gets free shipping, everyday, no code needed!

There are other online spots you can find it like Amazon, and you can also search General Finishes Retail Locations to see if there is a local store near you to purchase from.

Have you tried Paint Brand X?

Maybe, but probably not.  There are new paint brands coming out everyday, and I can’t keep up with all of them!  It may be that there is something out there you will like even better than what I recommend, but it goes back to consistency and knowing how to use the products I stand behind.  So I don’t often try lots of new types of paint, but that certainly doesn’t mean you can’t!!

I thought I’d make a little video and break it down a bit more for you…

So there you have it!  That’s why I use, sell and love General Finishes.  And, no, they didn’t ask me to say any of this.
