Snow+White+Antique+Dresser

Hello friends!

I forget how much I like a good white makeover.  White often takes a little more work (with more coats of paint) and so I often avoid it if possible, but when I makeover a piece in white, I wonder why I don’t do it more often!

My client is using this piece as a bathroom vanity.  She looked high and low for just the right piece with the right measurements, and found this old gem.  It’s a beautiful piece, that just needed a fresh look.

We sanded down and re-stained the top.  This is General Finishes Antique Oak Water Based Stain. Because this is going to be used as a sink top, I used two coats of boat varnish on the top, followed by two coats of Arm-R-Seal to give it a subtle shine.  I’m pretty sure that top will last forever now.

The base got 4 coats of Snow White Milk Paint, and a little distressing finished the piece off just perfectly.  We kept the handles that came with the piece, but sprayed them Oil Rubbed Bronze so they would pop.
