When we looked at our new house (I’ve dubbed it the Beige Beauty), one of my favorite rooms was the living room.  It mimics our old living room in that it’s a step down from the eat in dining area and kitchen.  I love the brick (this is good brick) fireplace accent wall, and the high ceilings.  What I didn’t love was all the knotty pine and the brown walls.  Paint is an easy fix though right?

This is my favorite place to curl up at the end of the day with a book or Netflix.  Our family of five hangs out in the living room often, especially now that it looks a little more like us! This color combination is just so much more peaceful.

This room was painted SW Repose Gray (mixed in Behr’s Ultra Satin) – I love this light gray.  It doesn’t read blue or green to me at all, but it’s just a soft lovely gray.  The white wood walls and trim are painted in Behr’s Glacial Mist.

The wood mantel beam was stained in General Finishes Espresso Wood Stain to give it a dark rich patina that plays well with the barn door media cabinet.  I painted the fireplace screen black in my attempt to remove all brass from this room.

Because the walls are now so bright, I’m able to use some darker finishes on the furniture to ground the space and bring in a little color.

This room is big enough for a sectional and a cedar chest for a coffee table.  This is the cedar chest that went from all natural to Coastal Blue.

White curtains keep the room light and airey.

I love my old screen doors that have been given the antique mirror treatment.  The faux antiqued glass helps bounce light around the room, and gives some nice architectural interest.  I told you paint makes all the difference… it’s an all new living room!!

Stay tuned for more room makeovers to come!
