I thought it'd be fun to do a series of gift guides since the holidays are just around the corner and I have lots of shopping to do. I really thought if I took the time to get this all together I could just shop at the same time and be DONE by mid December. We'll see how that goes :) All of the following gifts are found on Amazon, because you can find just about anything on Amazon and if you have Prime shipping is so quick. Also because if you are like me, there is usually some last minute shopping happening and so Prime shipping can be your saving grace.
This guide is for the DIYers or new homeowners in your life! Everyone know someone who likes to get their hands dirty with some home projects. This is a list of tools and essentials for the home DIYers or maybe someone who just bought their first home and needs to a jump start to their toolbox. **Note - I usually try to look for tools around the Black Friday time because they are usually on SALE! Keep an eye out this week for especially good deals!**
All of the following links are affiliate links for your shopping ease.
Kreg Jr. Pocket Hole System - This little kit is awesome. It will open a world of possibilities for home DIYers and furniture builders. It's simple and easy to follow directions and there are tons of free building plans online that this works with!
Stanley Socket Wrench Set - Everyone needs a good socket set. We just helped some family move and they didn't have a whole set...guess what they are getting for Christmas :) Also a great gift for dad! These suckers come in handy for sure.
Hex Key Set - This is a must have tool for everything from IKEA builds to car fixes. These are nice because they are all together in this little tool - not a million pieces falling everywhere. This is a great stocking stuffer too!
Handy Measuring Tape - Okay, another great stocking stuffer. I got one of these last year and it is awesome! I'm ALWAYS misplacing my measuring tapes, but this has a magnetic back so it sticks to the fridge or a tool chest. I've kept this in it's place all year without losing it!
1/4 Pad Sander - I use my pad sander all the time. The next one I buy will be this one - rumor has it it has amazing suction and dust collection. These are handy for lots of projects!
Dewalt Drill - You've gotta have a drill. Drill are good for everything. This is the best one we've had - the battery life seems to last longer. We use our drill all the time!
Magnetic Tool Tray - How handy is this. Perfect for keeping all the little pieces of a project in one place. Another handy stocking stuffer for dad!
Parts Organizer - I could use about 10 of these - and I'm sure anyone with a workshop would be the same way. It would also be a fun thing to fill up with tools and small parts as a "gift box".
Shop-Vac - This is another MUST have for homeowners. Vacuums up wet and dry spills, sawdust and lots of other messes (including vacuuming the car!).
Air Compressor - This was a game changer for us. You can hook up a nail gun, staple gun, brad nailer and other tools. More power means faster projects and a better job! I got mine for Christmas a few years ago!
Miter Saw - Another game changer, and a good one for someone who has a good start on tools. This is great for trim work and cutting small pieces. Super handy to have in your arsenal.
Well there you have it. These will hopefully give you an idea of some tools to buy. These are things that are handy for both those just starting and those that have had a home workshop for a while! These have all made a difference in the home projects we do as well as in refinishing furniture for sure.
