When we moved into the Beige Beauty, this is what the dining room looked like.  It’s a little hard to tell in these photos, but those walls are a very light purple.

Not for long.

This dining room makeover is truly a case of the power of paint.

Oh. my. isn’t that so much better?!  The trim and crown all went white (using this method).  I chose to keep the chair rail where it was and divide the room with two different colors.

The top is SW Repose Gray (the same gray as my adjoining kitchen and living room) and the base is SW Grizzle Gray (the same gray I used on my built-ins).

The chandelier stayed for now, I’m not sure it always will be there, but I haven’t found anything else I loved yet.

We re-installed french doors between the dining room and office as you can see here.  They are painted black – and I love them!

The furniture in this room is pretty much the same as the last house, my mini buffet, table base and chairs are all General Finishes Coastal Blue.  My corner china cabinet is refinished in GF Snow White.

This room really is used more as a craft room than a dining room, so the kids craft supplies are all in the mini buffet for them to use.  It’s nice to have a big table to spread out on when you are creating!

On the other side of the room I did have room for a buffet (that full makeover is right here).  It’s a fun spot to decorate.

These curtains are from Ikea (still available online here) and I just love them, they are light and airy with just the right pops of color.

I built my farmhouse table out of old legs I found on the side of the road and added a new plank top. It’s not perfect by any means, but it does have a lot of character.

We’ll eventually get rid of the carpet and switch it to wood.  That will not only be so much more practical than white carpet, but it will really take the room to the next level I think.  Time to save our pennies.

Never underestimate the power of paint!  That’s all we did in this room along with a little decorating – and it looks like a whole new space!  We’re knocking this house out of the 80’s one room at a time!!
