I’ve got desks on the brain over here (you’ll see why in the next few posts). But until I get a few projects finished, I thought we’d take a look around the web at some creative desk makeovers and get a little inspiration!!
I think desks are a great project for a makeover – not as big as a dresser, and you can usually find them inexpensively at a yard sale or thrift store! Next time you see one, snatch it and try one of these creative ideas…
1. School House Desk Makeover
Lauren at Bless’er House found this precious desk and transformed it into the perfect homework station for her kids. A little freshening up was all this piece needed. Isn’t it cute?!
2. Vintage Desk with a Little Paris Flair
Marie gave this vintage wooden desk new life (and new color) with this makeover. I love the use of graphics on the top for an extra special touch.
3. Turquoise Desk Makeover
Debbie made-over this boring wood desk in our favorite shade of turquoise and now it’s a stunner! Even the original hardware pops on this piece now. See how she did it right here.
4. Black and Gold Leaf Desk
I took an inspiration photo and transferred this fabulous finish onto an desk. I used gold leaf to give this a real glam look. I still love how this one turned out. This is one of my first tutorial posts – you can see how I did it here.
5. DIY Barstool Desk
I love how Liz re-imagined a pair of bar stools to make the perfect narrow desk for this window space. What a brilliant idea!!
6. DIY Kids Desk
Natalie built this desk herself (and includes free plans in her tutorial)!! It’s a great little desk for kids or adults alike! It has a great farmhouse feel to it, don’t you think?!
7. Farmhouse Desk Makeover
You’ll never believe how this desk started (hint: we probably all have one stashed in the basement). Ashley transformed a plain, boring desk into a little farmhouse gem. I love the planked wood top!
8. How to Save the Leather Top on a Vintage Desk
Kandice has a great tutorial here for us on how to save an old leather top. We’ve all seen those, and never know quite what to do with them. She saves the day with this post!
9. The Sweetest Little School Desk
Beth took an old school desk that had seen better days, and transformed it into something adorable for her craft room/office. Now her kids can work beside her on the sweetest little desk of their own.
10. Antique Secretary Desk Makeover
I can’t get enough of this soothing color combination. And on the shape of this antique secretary, it’s just the right amount of traditional and updated. See the full makeover post here.
