Sometimes a piece of furniture “speaks to you”, you can instantly see exactly what color it’s supposed to be, how it would look best styled or re-designed.

Other times, it takes a little inspiration to get you going.

I just bought a fantastic buffet. It’s very unique and will be a great piece in someone’s home, but I just can’t quite decide what to do with it yet.  So I took to the inter-webs and came up with 9 beautiful ideas for a buffet makeover!! Let’s take a look…

1. Farmhouse White Buffet

I refinished this buffet last year using my favorite white Milk Paint (a custom mix I made myself). I took it to a furniture sale and couldn’t believe it didn’t sell, so I brought it home for my dining room (I was secretly hoping it wouldn’t sell). It’s the perfect neutral color for the dining room, with just a bit of sparkle on the knobs that take it to the next level.

2. Gold Leaf Glam

Forget neutral, this next piece is anything but.  Do Dodson Designs outdid herself on this one, creating the perfect gold pop against a blended black base.  What a statement piece for a room, it’s just stunning!

3. Blue Painted Buffet Makeover

You all know I’m a sucker for blue.  This gorgeous piece by Thirty Eighth Street is right up my alley with a stained wood top and multi-layer blue finish on the base.  It makes all those gorgeous details pop.

4. Painted Buffet Makeover

Buffets and sideboards aren’t only for the dining room, they also work amazing as TV consoles.  Twelve on Main rescued this piece from a neighbor’s house and made it the perfect piece for her own living room with furniture paint.  It’s the perfect farmhouse accent for the space!

5. Eye Catching Grey Sideboard Makeover

The multi-layer grey finish on this piece by Do Dodson Designs is eye-catching yet subtle.  The grays give a texture and depth to this piece that is so interesting to look at.  I love the combination of grey and gold!

6. DIY Chalk Paint Makeover

What a difference Liz Marie makes with a little DIY chalk paint!  You have to see the before photo, you may have passed it up… but now it’s light and bright and perfectly distressed!

7. Gray Painted Buffet with Tissue Paper Drawers

Just the Woods transformed this vintage piece with the perfect shade of gray.  It’s so classy now in it’s new coat of paint.  The inner drawers are accented with tissue paper, and they are such a fun surprise inside.

8. Seagull Gray Sideboard

I found this piece at a consignment store painted the oddest shade of brown.  It was awful.  So with a little prep work, I brightened it all up with the classic Seagull Gray Milk Paint and brought it back to life! Tips on painting over a painted piece can be found here.

9. Modern Buffet Makeover

Woah, this piece was a red-wood finish before Sustain My Craft Habit got her hands on it.  She raised the height of the piece just a bit to make it a more useful size, gave it a fresh coat of paint and the most fun knobs!  What a difference a little paint makes!
