Chalk Couture is the latest crafting craze – it’s so much fun!  So you order it, it arrives in the mail and then what??  I get it – where do you start with the stuff??

I made a video tutorial just for you – the basics of Chalk Couture.  From opening your package to creating something you are proud of.  Whenever I try a new product I really like to test it, find out it limits and figure out how it really works.  So included in this video are some experiments that didn’t work so well too (you may as well learn from my mistakes right?!).

Here’s the finished “Home Sweet Home” sign.  This whitewashed wood sign came from Walmart.  All I did for prep was sand it smooth (just quickly by hand) and apply one coat of topcoat.  That will seal the grain of the wood enough so you don’t get any bleeding through the transfer and your letters/design stay nice and crisp!

Here’s one of the latest summer designs I did on a Chalk Couture Chalk Board.  This is the board they send you in the starter kit.  It’s perfect to try designs on, because you can wipe off the design and create something else as often as you like.  It’s also magnetic so that’s a plus AND no prep!!  Just put your transfer on and create something beautiful!

This canvas still needs a frame, but one coat of paint on the canvas was all it needed to “seal” the canvas just enough to make a nice crisp, clean design.  I love this saying, I think it’s so sweet!

There you have it! I hope this is helpful for you just getting started with Chalk Couture.  I’m here to help if you have any questions, and I’ll keep experimenting and trying new things right along with you!

If you’d like to join my Chalk Couture Facebook group as mentioned in the video, you can request access right here!

Happy chalking!
