I'm working on several small DIY projects for the upcoming show I'll be at. Small projects are a fun change of pace from time to time. This is a quick project that would make the perfect gift, a small project to sell in a booth or just a fun DIY project for your home.Read More
I have a quick before and after for you today, hang on to your chairs, this is a good makeover.
I found this old vanity at a local antique shop already in pieces. It had a big giant mirror that sat across the back, and these two drawer cases were already apart - taken apart or broken I'm not too sure. The set had certainly seen better days. They were missing some wheels, the tops were lifting off, and the finish was a wreck. That's what 30 years of nail polish and hair spray will do to a vanity.Read More
Farmhouse style is all the rage. Call it modern farmhouse, traditional farmhouse, industrial farmhouse, or somewhere in between - it's POPULAR!! Last summer I spotted this headboard at a church sale. It was sitting off to the side with a sticker that said "make offer". It had been damaged in a rain storm and the veneer started to peel. What made it unattractive to others, meant a good deal for me!
Have you seen the headboard benches online? Some people use them as an outdoor bench, others as an entryway piece. I just always wanted to build one. So when I grabbed this headboard and footboard set, I knew it was just what I had been dreaming of!Read More
A reader question came in a few weeks ago, and I thought it was such a good one it deserved a whole blog post. She explained that she is a new homeowner and doesn't really have tools yet. "What tools do you recommend that you use for pretty much everything you do?".
I love tools, the first gift I remember my husband giving me when we were dating was a tool set. I ask for tools for Christmas, and getting a new tool makes me so happy. However, just like anything else, there are tools that are very useful and some that are just taking up space.
Some tools are also very project specific (ie: a tile saw) others are more general, and will be used over and over again. This is meant to be a general list of tools to have in home DIY projects.Read More
Our house came with some fabulous French doors. They had been added by a previous owner, then removed to sell the house. But I had a vision for those beauties - I wanted to add a couple of black interior doors – something a little fancy a little more like a statement piece. They are super functional to have in the office too – a little sound barrier in our crazy house ;)Read More
I’ve realized one of my favorite things in home design and DIY is not only when something looks pretty, but when it functions well. When those two components meet, it’s what truly makes a house feel like a custom built home that really works hard for your family. I remember realizing that in the last house during our DIY kitchen renovation. I also realized that making a space work for you doesn’t have to be hard or expensive – you just need a little creativity. So when we moved into the new house with a whole new kitchen layout – I knew there were some spots that needed some re-work.
One of them was this “desk” area.Read More
